OUR DAILY OLDIES
THE BEATLES AGAIN TODAY... BUT I NEVER GET TIRED OF THEM. IT'S THE MUSIC OF MY TEENAGE YEARS...
IF WE PLAY OLDIES, THE BEATLES APPEAR SOONER OR LATER. I HAVE SO MANY BEATLES SONGS, THAT I COULD BE POSTING ONLY BEATLES, ONE SONG PER DAY AND IT WOULD TAKE ALL MY TIME TO THE END OF MY LIFE (AND I'M 76).
OLDIES COME IN DIFFERENT STYLES AND SOME DAYS I FEEL A LITTLE "JAZZY".
THERE ARE MANY OLD, LONG FORGOTTEN OLDIES THAT WE HAVEN'T HEARD IN A LONG TIME. THIS IS ONE OF THEM.
ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER OLDIE WITH AN INTERNATIONAL VERSION
OLDIES THAT ONLY PEOPLE LIME ME (OVER 70) REMEMBER (AND WE BOUGHT THE RECORDS).
WALKING THE DOG, ORIGINAL BY RUFUS THOMAS PLUS A LIVE VERSION BY JOHNNY RIVERS, ANOTHER LIVE PERFORMANCE BY JUNIOR VALENTINE AND AS A BONUS, AN INSTRUMENTAL VERSION, DONE BY COMPUTERS WITH NO REAL INSTRUMENTS.
SOOKY IN ITS ORIGINAL VERSION BY CLASSIC IV, A LATER VERSION BY ATLANTA RYTHM SECTION AND FINALLY A RARITY, AN INSTRUMENTAL VESION DONE TOTALLY WITH COMPUTERS, NOT REAL INSTRUMENTS.
BRITISH OLDIES - WARREN ZEVON , WEREWOLVES OF LONDON.
A BEAUTIFUL SONG FROM THE 60s AND THE BONUS VERSION FROM SPAIN BY CRISTINA Y LOS STOP.
JUST MORE DAILY OLDIES BUT GOODIES.
AN EARLY HIT OF THE ROLLING STONES WITH A BONUS SPANISH VERSION
IF YOU LIKE BLUES, HERE'S A SONG FOR YOU TODAY. ENJOY IT!
FROM THE GOLDEN AGE OF EUROPEAN POP MUSIC: N'AVOUE JAMAIS BY GUY MARDEL (FRANCE)
'AS TEARS GO BY' IS A ROLLING STONES CLASSIC BUT AS WITH MANY OLDIES, THERE WERE VERSIONS OF THE SONG IN DIFFERENT LANGUAGES AND DIFFERENT COUNTRIES, EVEN IN COUNTRIES THAT NO LONGER EXIST LIKE CZECHOSLOVAKIA. HERE WE HAVE AN ITALIAN VERSION, A SPANISH VERSION BY A GROUP FROM COSTA RICA AND THE CZECHOSLOVAKIAN VERSION.
AFTER COMPLETING HIS MILITARY SERVICE, ELVIS RELEASED AN ALBUM THAT CONTAINED THIS SONG BUT I HAVE AN INTERESTING STORY ABOUT IT. MANY YEARS AGO, WHEN THE CASSETTE TAPES HAD NOT BEEN INVENTED YET, THE WAY TO RECORD SOUND IN TAPE WERE BIGGER AND HEAVIER MACHINES WITH BIG REELS OF TAPE AND USING AN EXTERNAL MICROPHONE. THOSE WERE MOSTLY FOR PROFFESIONALS AND WERE EXPENSIVE, NOT EVERYBODY HAD ONE OF THOSE BUT THERE WAS ONE IN MY HOME. I WAS VERY YOUNG AND I HAD A FRIEND WHO WAS IN A MUSICAL GROUP THAT PLAYED ROCK IN SPANISH. ONE DAY HE CAME WITH A GUITAR AND ASKED ME TO DO A DEMO RECORDING OF A SPANISH VERSION OF THIS ELVIS SONG FOR THEM TO WORK ON IT. SO I HELPED HIM. DAYS LATER HE BROUGHT THE TAPE BACK TO ME AND SAID 'THANKS'. MANY YEARS PASSED AND ONE DAY, WHEN CLEANING OLD STUFF, I REDISCOVERED THAT OLD TAPE AND THE MACHINE STILL WORKED. I KEPT IT. IT'S A LONG STORY. HE MAY BE DEAD BY NOW. I HAVEN'T SEEN HIM FOR MORE THAN 50 YEARS BUT I'M MAKING THAT DEMO TAPE PUBLIC FOR THE FIRST TIME.
I PROMISED OLDIES FROM AROUND THE WORLD, NOT ONLY THOSE WELL KNOWN SONGS THAT WERE RADIO HITS IN THE U.S.A. THIS ONE IS FROM THE GOLDEN AGE OF THE EUROPEAN POR MUSIC. CHARLES AZNAVOUR, FROM FRANCE, SINGS ONE OF HIS HIT SONGS OF THE 1960s: 'ET POURTAUNT'. MOST EUROPEAN SPEAK MORE THAN ONE LANGUAGE AND AZNAVOUR COULD SING IN LANGUAGES OTHER THAN FRENCH. HERE WE INCLUDE HIS SPANISH VERSION OF THE SAM,E SONG.
