Limiting the electric vehicle tax credit is a dilemma for automakers, and GM CEO Mary Barra has suggested House Speaker Nancy Pelosi lift the cap to create a level playing field but it doesn't seem to be possible.

The CEOs of General Motors, Ford Motor, Chrysler parent Stellantis and Toyota Motor North America are urging Congress to lift the federal government’s cap on the number of vehicles that are eligible for a tax credit of up to $7,500, a move they say will encourage consumer adoption of the cars and trucks.
In a joint letter Monday to congressional leaders, the executives say the credit, which begins phasing out once a company sells 200,000 plug-in electric vehicles, is essential to keep the vehicles affordable as production and commodity costs rise.
“Eliminating the cap will incentivize consumer adoption of future electrified options,” the letter states.
GM and Tesla, the industry leader in electric vehicles, are the only companies that have exceeded the limit so far. But other automakers are also expected to near the 200,000 mark as they release an array of new electric products.
The thing is, getting a $7,500 tax credit isn’t always the same thing as buying a car for $7,500 less than its sticker price. The tax credit came to life with the 2008 Energy Improvement and Extension Act, as a tool to narrow the price gap between expensive electrics and cheaper gas-powered cars. Claiming a credit depends on having a tax bill in the first place. To owe at least $7,500 in federal tax (and therefore get the full amount back), you must make more than $52,000 a year. If you have other deductions to offset against your taxes, like a mortgage, student loan payments, or childcare costs, you must earn even more.

It is no secret that several tech billionaires have expressed interest in colonizing Mars in recent years. But it is also well known that creating a sustainable and permanent food source is critical for humans to live on the red planet. This is because humans cannot survive without food and water either for relatively short periods of time and certainly not for the long periods needed to qualify as civilization. For instance, just the transmission of spacecraft to provide pre-packaged food is not sufficient.

In addition to this, the trip to Mars itself takes between six to nine months, including the return trip, packing enough food to last that long is not an easy task. In fact, it would take at least decades for a civilization to be established on the planet itself. Furthermore, the agricultural revolution marked the transition from hunter-gatherer to flourishing civilizations in human history.

The billionaire Microsoft benefactor and the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX have never had a particularly cordial relationship. So the two have sparred openly on everything from electric autos to the coronavirus in the past few years.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, is well known for his tongue-in-cheek humor. Despite the fact that his tweets often bring the billionaire into controversy, he seems quite unfazed by all the controversies around his tweets. Musk is now angry with Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates for allegedly shorting Tesla shares. As a result, Musk is now attempting to get revenge on Bill Gates for the act.

So for a starter, they disagreed fundamentally about the coronavirus, despite their public spats not always being noteworthy. But as prominent actors in virus treatment, vaccine research, and technology, their disputes are a great deal. Lately, Elon has picked yet another controversy with Bill Gates.
