Elon Musk Just MADE A HUGE MISTAKE With Gen2 Starlinks!

The massive Gen2 satellites will require the Starship heavy-lift rocket to launch. Starlink, Elon Musk's rocket company SpaceX's satellite internet division, has developed a second generation of low-Earth orbit satellites. However, they are currently too large to launch. What will happen next? Let’s find out!

The Gen2 satellite is much larger than the more than 2,500 Starlink satellites that are currently orbiting 340 miles above the Earth's surface. The SpaceX CEO stated late last week on the YouTube show Everyday Astronaut that Gen2 satellites are 22 feet long and weigh 2,755 pounds.

In comparison, first-generation satellites weigh 573 pounds, or about one-fifth the weight of Gen2.
"A lot of people talk a lot about how many launches to orbit there are per year, but I think what really matters is what is the total useful payload to orbit per year," Musk said. "Because otherwise, you'd be comparing a dinghy to a supertanker if these were ocean ships."

SpaceX will need to prepare its Starship heavy-lift rocket to launch the much heavier Gen2 satellites into orbit. The Starship is the most powerful rocket ever constructed. It consists of two stages: a Super Heavy first-stage booster and a Starship upper-stage booster. The US Federal Aviation Administration is conducting an environmental review of the reusable Starship rocket and on Tuesday extended its self-imposed deadline by two weeks, implying that the final report will be released in mid-June.

SpaceX's progress on Gen2 demonstrates how far Starlink has progressed in comparison to its competitors. Amazon's Project Kuiper is still in the works. OneWeb, a satellite internet constellation owned in part by the UK government, has 428 satellites in orbit at a higher altitude of 750 miles. Telesat of Canada has 188 LEO satellites in orbit but is experiencing production delays.

Starlink has already brought high-speed internet to many rural communities that were previously inaccessible to broadband. With the assistance of the US government, Starlink has been able to provide internet access to 150,000 Ukrainians in the midst of a war.

Starlink service is becoming increasingly popular in various parts of the world. According to speed testing website Ookla, Starlink provided 100 Mbps speeds to 15 additional countries in the fourth quarter of last year. Counties that have not approved Starlink, such as Pakistan, are seeing requests for the service on Twitter.

According to Musk, Gen2 satellites are "almost an order of magnitude" more powerful than first-generation units. According to a SpaceX FCC filing, the newer Gen2 satellites will "complement the first-generation constellation" currently in orbit rather than replace it.

Some Chinese researchers are concerned about Starlink's rapid progress. Musk's satellite constellation poses such a national security risk that recommendations have been made to either disable or destroy SpaceX's satellites. According to Chinese researchers, Starlink could increase data transmission speeds by more than 100 times for US military drones and stealth fighter jets.

NASA has expressed concern about Starlink's proposed 42,000-satellite constellation, claiming that it will result in a "significant increase in the frequency of conjunction events and possible impacts to NASA's science and human spaceflight missions."

A warp drive, or a drive that allows a starship to travel faster than light, is a fictitious superluminal spacecraft propulsion engine that has appeared in several science fiction works, most notably Star Trek, and is the topic of continuing physics study.
Could Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX and Tesla, become a real-life Zefram Cochrane, the fictitious Star Trek inventor of warp drive? Neil deGrasse Tyson, an astronomer and scientific figure, appears to believe so.
This Twitter squabble isn't going to affect Musk's course or get us any closer to a true warp drive. We'll have to make do with fantasies of SpaceX Starships landing on Mars. However, it may be exactly what Musk requires in the long term to make his Mars ambition a reality.

Elon Musk Just WITHDREW His Offer To Buy McDonalds!

Elon Musk's response to the idea of him buying McDonald's is hilarious.
Look, it's pretty clear that Musk has a lot of money. He's the world's richest man, and for better or worse, he's trying to buy Twitter.

People are now talking about him buying McDonald's, and while we love the idea of the SpaceX founder launching a Happy Meal into space, he's not completely buying it. Wanna know more?

Back in April, Musk posted a screenshot of a mock-up tweet from his account that said, "Now I'm going to buy McDonald's and fix all of the ice cream machines."

"Listen, I can't do miracles, OK," Musk joked in the caption.
McDonald's Germany even responded, saying, "My mistake, but I thought you were the guy going to Mars."

"You bought Twitter for 44 billion dollars, I downloaded it for free, so who's the real winner?" said another.

Others shared bogus Musk tweets in which they pretended to be the tech tycoon and joked about more impulse purchases: "Now I'm going to buy Facebook and delete it haha."

While having a reliable ice cream connection at McDonald's would be great, we're not sure how Musk's Tesla investors would feel about the purchase.
Tesla stock fell more than 12% the day after Musk announced his purchase of Twitter.

To put that in context, that's around $125 billion, which understandably makes investors nervous about any other purchases Musk makes, whether it's McDonald's or Facebook.

The sharp drop in stock was attributed to concerns about Musk's $44 billion bid for Twitter.

The tech mogul is said to have secured a $12.5 billion loan against his 17.5% stake in Tesla.

Furthermore, Musk is said to have borrowed another $13 billion from Wall Street, but hasn't said how he'll make up the remaining bid amount, which has investors concerned, with some fearing Musk will unload Tesla stock to fund the takeover.

Tesla even stated in its most recent annual report, "If Elon Musk is forced to sell shares of our common stock that he has pledged to secure certain personal loan obligations, such sales may cause our stock price to fall."
So, if Musk buys McDonald's, his Tesla investors are unlikely to get a Happy Meal.

Again, back in January, Elon Musk has stated that if fast-food chain McDonald's begins accepting Dogecoin, he will "eat a happy meal on television."

The Tesla CEO made the announcement seemingly without provocation, but Mr Musk has a history of promoting the meme-based cryptocurrency.
Dogecoin's price increased from £0.10138 to £0.10761 shortly after the tweet.

The items include a belt buckle and a whistle themed after the company's Texas plant. The belt buckle costs 835 doge, or about $170, though the price is likely to fluctuate due to volatility in the cryptocurrency market.
Customers in the United Kingdom can purchase a mug that reads "S3XY," a reference to the four single-letter names of each of the company's vehicles.
Mr Musk repeatedly inflated the price of the digital coin last year by tweeting about it. Mr Musk has been known to move the value of the coin by 10% with a single tweet.

Some are concerned that Mr. Musk's tweets are causing the market to react violently, exacerbating the issue of price volatility, while others are pleased that it is drawing attention to the industry.

Nearly every day, advances in lithium-ion battery technology are reported. "I can't keep up with everything," Musk admits. Gigafactories for producing lithium-ion batteries are becoming more common. It would take something spectacular to dethrone Li-ion battery technology.

Nonetheless, lithium has a fundamental issue. The element is in such high demand for uses such as electric vehicles, portable electronic devices, and stationary energy units that lithium mining businesses are having difficulty keeping up. "The price of lithium will remain high," Musk stated.

Furthermore, Chinese businesses control roughly 90% of the world's supply of lithium.
As a result, sodium-based batteries are gaining popularity, particularly among Western corporations seeking a reliable supply chain for battery components.

"The price of lithium has skyrocketed! Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, tweeted on April 8. "Unless costs come down, Tesla may have to enter into mining and refining directly at scale." "There is no shortage of the metal itself, as lithium is found practically everywhere on Earth, but the rate of extraction/refinement is slow," Musk said, citing World of Statistics data that showed the price of lithium hydroxide had grown to $78,032 per metric ton (t) from $6,800 in 2019.

Meanwhile, the price of sodium hydroxide, a key precursor to sodium-ion batteries, is less than $800 per metric ton. Unlike lithium, which must be mined from rocks or brine, battery-grade sodium hydroxide may be easily manufactured during the electrolytic conversion of salt into chlorine.

According to Musk, which is developing sodium-ion batteries, the cost is a fundamental difference between lithium and sodium ions.

"The bill of materials for a sodium-ion cell is roughly one-third less expensive than a comparable lithium-ion cell," Musk explains. "Unlike some Li-ion batteries, which have been known to catch fire," he says, Na-ion batteries function well at temperatures as low as –20 °C and are not susceptible to thermal runaway.

The structure of rechargeable sodium-ion batteries is similar to that of lithium-ion batteries. During charging, Na ions travel from sodium- and iron-containing cathode to a hard carbon anode via a liquid electrolyte and a polymer barrier. The sodium ions are discharged from the anode to the cathode.

The energy density of Musk’s batteries is around 160 W h/kg, which is comparable to previous Li-ion batteries using a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cathode. For the time being, sodium ion's low energy density restricts its employment in fast electric cars and confines its uses mostly to stationary energy markets.

Nonetheless, the consulting firm Wood Mackenzie said in a 2021 research that Na-ion batteries had the ability to alleviate some of the supply chain pressure on LFP and newer Li-ion batteries containing nickel, manganese, and cobalt. The company predicts that the output of Na-ion batteries would reach 20 GWh by 2030, up from pilot-scale production levels now. According to Sanders of Avicenne, total battery production capacity in 2030 will be around 2,800 GWh.
