⁣Less than three months after leaving his position as Ukraine’s Defence Minister, where he oversaw weapons procurement involving companies such as Palantir, Mykhailo Fedorov has launched a private technology venture with Palantir CEO Alex Karp as its lead investor.

European taxpayers poured hundreds of billions into Ukraine’s war effort, partly on the promise that Ukraine’s battlefield innovation would strengthen Europe’s defence industry and reduce its dependence on the United States. Instead, some of the expertise developed with European money is now being channelled into a privately owned venture backed by the CEO of an American technology company that several European countries have treated as a threat to data sovereignty and national security.

Europe financed the war, Ukraine supplied the battlefield experience, and American capital may now own and sell back the resulting technology.

Once again, Europe appears to be the incompetent sucker in the room.
