A source said recently, Tesla's CEO, Elon Musk has made a plan for the Giga Texas factory to dominate the US electric vehicle market in particular and the world electric vehicle market in general.

Tesla is planning another expansion near Giga Texas when it collects more land for new projects in the factory area in order to realize the goal of producing about 2 million electric vehicles per year.
Accordingly, Tesla has applied to build a giant new facility to produce cathode materials for battery manufacturing, next to Gigafactory Texas in Austin. This project is listed as being on a parcel of land next to the Colorado River and would have a size of nearly 1.6 million square feet.
Drew Baglino, Senior Vice President of Engineering said: "We’re gonna go and start building our own cathode facility in North America and leveraging all of the North American resources that exist for nickel and lithium, and just doing that, just localizing our cathode supply chain and production, we can reduce miles traveled by all the materials that end up in the cathode by 80%."
In an update on its progress in producing its new 4680 battery cell previously, Tesla confirmed that it has already deployed battery manufacturing equipment at Gigafactory Texas and some are already in operation. The company also shared that a cathode manufacturing facility next to the factory would localize more of the battery cell production and could help achieve greater volume.
Moreover, Giga Texas is also expected to produce more than 4 million 4680 battery cells in a week, enough to power about 5,000 electric vehicles. Even it is estimated that in the near future, Tesla Giga Texas can produce up to 20,000 Model Ys per week.

Meanwhile, Senator from Texas Ted Cruz stated: "We will not let any company or political force affect the oil and gas industry of Texas in general and the United States in particular. "
It is clear that Senator Ted Cruz is trying to hinder the development of companies that are antagonistic to fossil fuels, including Tesla.

In 2020, Senator Ted Cruz was among the top 20 recipients of oil and gas money in the Senate. He was given $124,272 by the industry that year.
Much more telling, however, is that in 2018 - an election year for Mr. Cruz - he was the top recipient of oil and gas money in the Senate, receiving nearly $800,000 from the industry.

Elon Musk proclaimed that the US economy was "probably" in a recession, contradicting economists and accessible evidence, and warned businesses to keep an eye on costs and cash flows.

"These things will pass, and then there will be boom times again," Musk said at the All-In Summit in Miami Beach, according to a Twitter user who live-streamed his remarks. "It'll definitely be difficult for, I don't know, a year, maybe 12-18 months."

Fears of a recession have grown recently as the Federal Reserve tightens monetary policy to try lower inflation, which is nearing its highest level since the early 1980s. Nonetheless, according to the most recent Bloomberg monthly survey of experts, the chances of a slump in the following year are at 30%.
