In a conference call with analysts and retail investors, Elon Musk said: “one of the things that troubles you the most is that we don't yet have a truly affordable car." (audio thật: 0:07-0:11)
This is also one of the main reasons why Texans are hesitant to buy a Tesla. However, that's just the beginning of a series of big issues Texans face when buying electric cars in their own state.

Gail Buttorff, an Instructional Assistant Professor at the Hobby School of Public Affairs conducted a survey in which the result found that “few Texans currently own or lease an electric vehicle, and only about one in 10 say they would very likely consider owning or leasing one in the future.”
Moreover, according to a report, electric vehicles represent less than 1% of all registered vehicles in the state of Texas.
Residents of Texas are still hesitant to buy EVs because they worry about the overall costs of owning one.

Musk's remark was in response to a tweet by Dogecoin co-founder Billy Markus who goes by the Twitter handle Shibetoshi Nakamoto in which he stated that cryptocurrency was "created as a statement against central bank control" following the Great Recession caused by the 2008 housing bubble burst, which was fueled by a subprime mortgage crisis. Markus tweeted that the global financial crisis was "caused by predatory lending practises and other irresponsible nonsense, leading to the housing bubble bursting, rampant printing of money, bailouts, and so on."
