The project will return energy from space to Earth, potentially changing the way everyone on the planet receives electricity. Is this even possible? Let’s find out!

In today's video, we'll talk about China’s grand plan of launching a power station in space, and Elon Musk updating us all!

According to the South China Morning Post, China plans to start the first phase of an ambitious solar power plant development project in 2028, two years ahead of schedule. When the time comes, a trial satellite orbiting the Earth at a distance of about 248 miles (400 kilometers) will be used to test the technology, according to a peer-reviewed paper published on Thursday in the journal Chinese Space Science and Technology, Musk stated.

According to the Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post, the China Academy of Space Technology (CAST), the country's leading state-owned spacecraft manufacturer, plans to conduct a "Space high voltage transfer and wireless power transmission experiment" in low Earth orbit in 2028.

The central idea is to construct a space station equipped with a solar array that converts solar energy into electricity. The power would then be transferred to Earth via a microwave transmitter or a laser emitter.

The satellite will be capable of producing 10 kilowatts of power, which will be sufficient to power a few households. It will include a solar cell array, a microwave transmitting antenna, a low-power laser transmission payload, a transmitting array, and a 400-kilometer power transfer test, Musk explained.

The phase 1 test will be followed shortly by phase 2, which will be launched into geostationary orbit and will require precise energy transfer over a distance of 35,800 kilometers to Earth in 2030.

The second mission has the potential to generate up to one megawatt of power. It will have much larger transmission arrays and medium-power laser power transmission, and it will be assembled in space.

Phases 3 and 4, slated for 2035 and 2050, call for significant increases in energy generation and transmission (10 MW and 2 gigatonnes, respectively), orbital assembly capabilities, beam steering accuracy, and transmission architecture.

According to Musk, the proposal also calls for the development of ground infrastructure to receive energy transmissions. The paper "Retro-directive microwave power beam steering technology of space solar power stations," which was recently published in the journal China Space Science and Technology, updated CAST's designs.

According to the paper, the four-phase project could help China achieve its energy security and carbon neutrality goals. The new strategy appears to be in response to domestic and international development trends, as well as technological advancements.

CAST announced in 2021 that it is conducting small-scale electricity generation experiments, with a megawatt-level power generation facility possibly being built around 2030. It is also constructing test facilities in Chongqing, southwest China, to aid in its research into space-based solar power, Musk explained.

Last year, the team even used a payload aboard a small airship to test power transfer over a 300-meter distance.

Welcome back, Richest fans! After the past couple of years, Elon Musk has been battling out to be the world’s wealthiest person. As such, he has a net worth of $154 billion (at the time of writing)! This massive money mound is due to his business success with companies like SpaceX and Tesla. Yet what about the rest of his family tree? Well, that’s what we’re exploring today! We’re going to look at some facts on Elon’s history, as well as his extended family. From his parents, siblings, cousins, to partners old and current. We’ll see if making cash is contained within the genes.

Now for the spoiler paragraph. If you like surprises, we suggest you stop reading and watch the video multiple times. We kick-off by looking at Elon’s childhood and his early money-making ways. After that, we’ll examine his parents, Errol and Maye Musk. We then have his siblings. We’ll see how Kimbal Musk has been involved in all of Elon’s businesses whilst creating a food empire and non-profit. While Tosca Musk has created a streaming service and been involved in video production. As for cousins, Lyndon and Peter Rive were both heavily involved with SolarCity before Tesla bought it. While Russ Rive also got the film production bug and even got involved with the Olympics. There’s Elon’s first wife Justine and how they met. Then, Elon met actor Talulah Riley who got married and divorced twice. Then there’s Musk’s current partner, the musician known as Grimes. Finally, we’ll briefly look at the expensive houses Musk has recently sold.
