General Motors announced a major restructuring of its global business. These changes are part of GM’s efforts to focus its resources on self-driving and electric vehicles, as well as more efficient trucks, crossovers and SUVs, the company said in a statement.
The company also said it will cut 15 percent of its salaried workforce, laying off 25 percent of its executives to “streamline decision-making.” GM also said it will close two plants outside North America, but those locations have yet to be announced.
“The actions we are taking today continue our transformation to be highly agile, resilient and profitable, while giving us the flexibility to invest in the future,” chief executive Mary Barra said in a statement. “We recognize the need to stay in front of changing market conditions and customer preferences to position our company for long-term success.”
The company said it expects to save $6 billion in cash as a part of the restructuring. The cost-cutting is crucial to GM’s aggressive strategy with efficient and electric vehicles said Michelle Krebs, an analyst with AutoTrader.
“GM is making a big bet on a future that is autonomous, connected and electric,” Krebs said. “It has to be extremely profitable now to finance that because no one knows when those vehicles will be commonplace.”
Ohio Sens. Rob Portman (R) and Sherrod Brown (D), however, both slammed GM’s decision to shut down the Lordstown plant, shaming the company for poor treatment of its workers.
Senator Elizabeth Warren claims that GM received significant investments and government incentives but nevertheless decided to close the facility and lay off executives and staff. There is a serious question mark surrounding GM's operations, and Elizabeth Warren has a point.

⁣Lloyd Austin has expanded on Washington’s stated goal to ‘weaken Russia’ during its military action in Ukraine.

According to Austin, Moscow’s capabilities are less than they were prior to the start of the conflict due to casualties and equipment destroyed. The economic sanctions are then supposed to prevent Russia from reinforcing.

The official also added that he still expects Ukraine to at some point apply for NATO membership, an issue the Kremlin cited as a key reason for its ongoing military involvement.

⁣Fluoride in Water Poses “Unreasonable Risk” to Children, Federal Judge Rules

The “conspiracy theorists” were right again.

Judge Edward Chen has ruled that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) MUST take action on water fluoridation.

He found that fluoride poses an “unreasonable risk” of reducing IQ, especially in young children, at the current levels.

He dismissed the EPA’s argument that it’s unclear exactly how much fluoride is dangerous and instead pointed to scientific evidence showing that even the so-called “optimal” level for dental health (0.7 mg/L) could be harmful.

This decision could potentially lead to the end of water fluoridation in the U.S. and is a significant blow to the EPA, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and groups like the American Dental Association (ADA), who have long defended the practice.

This is a huge win and another step forward to Make America Healthy Again (MAHA).
